What is peace?
Peace is when people are able to resolve their conflicts without violence and can work together to improve the quality of their lives.
Peace is when:
everyone lives in safety, without fear or threat of violence, and no form of violence is tolerated in law or in practice.
Peace is also a situation where everyone has fair and equal access to the basic needs for their wellbeing – such as food, clean water, shelter, education, healthcare and a decent living environment.
Peace is where everyone has an equal opportunity to work and make a living, regardless of gender, ethnicity or any other aspect of identity.
Attributes of peace:
Peace is more than just the absence of war and violence
Peace is not the absence of conflict – but the ability to manage conflict constructively, as an important opportunity for change and increased understanding.
Peace is a commitment to understanding, celebrating and learning from differences.
Peace is a commitment not to harm, but also to nurture, all individuals
Four kinds of peace:
1) Peace with God
2) Peace with the universe
3) Peace with oneself
4) Peace with others
How to achieve innate peace
Be pleasant. Be kind and courteous. It warms your heart as well.
Soothe and replenish your spirit. Quiet your mind. Sit quietly to free and empty your mind of thought.
Keep everything simple. Inner peace is easier to achieve when you simplify your life and your to-do list.
Take your time: Achieving inner peace is a process; take the time to experience and enjoy your own personal journey.
Be happy-Be patient- Be content-Take responsibility.
